Principal's Message

I am delighted to welcome you to Cambridge International School, Doha (CIS). As Principal of the School, I would like to tell you more about the philosophy of education that underpins education at CIS where learning is at the heart of all that we do.
At CIS our curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, adapted to include the requirements of education in Qatar and to meet the needs of our students. The curriculum is designed to provide not only academic knowledge and information but also to develop the skills that will help our students to achieve success in the future. Learning is at the very heart of education and we aim for our students to become lifelong learners, developing independence and a love of learning that will enhance their personal lives and careers for the future.
We are pleased to announce that CIS will admit girls and boys from KG1 throughout the school from this academic year 2018/19. Already offering IGCSE examinations in Year 11, CIS now extends to Year 12 where students may continue with AS levels and subsequently A levels in Year 13.
Education in the 21st century is not just about classroom learning and memorising facts. Education in its fullest sense is active, not passive. It encompasses the development of skills such as the abilities to think more deeply, to analyse, to evaluate, to explain, to summarise, to synthesise and be able to create. It comes from a range of experiences both within the classroom and outside.
At CIS our students not only have excellent opportunities to study the necessary range of subjects in the classroom but also to participate in enrichment activities which enhance their all-round education. They are encouraged to have self-confidence, curiosity and ambition, to share ideas, to discuss, to ask and to answer questions, to be inquisitive and to be creative. They are encouraged to develop the personal qualities of humility, compassion and respect.
Learning is a journey, one that is full of surprises, challenges and enjoyment. It is a journey that I hope every student will find exciting, fulfilling and memorable at CIS.

Why Should You Choose Us

Gifted & Talented Issues

Some students are very bright and highly motivated to succeed at school. They need to be sufficiently stimulated with a challenging curriculum.

Average Student Issues

What’s wrong with being “average”? Strictly speaking, nothing. The danger is that the “average” students may settle for lower expectations and poorer performance, doing enough to “get by” without ever reaching their potential.

Learning Issues

Some students have problems learning at the traditional school pace, missing critical fundamentals. Students who are performing below average or have a learning difficulty want to succeed. If allowed to fail, they will become defeated, stop trying and never catch up unless the pattern of failure is reversed.

Motivational Issues

Some students are capable academically, but lack motivation. They fail to turn in homework assignments or to engage in the classroom learning process. Their grades suffer, and their motivation continues to spiral downward.

Study Skills

Some students have not developed the necessary study skills to function effectively in the classroom. They lack organizational and time management skills. They have not developed the study skills that enable them to competently and confidently handle their assignments.
